Please see our list of vehicles that we have tested here. Most vehicles are accessible, but vehicles do vary greatly. We have videos showing difficult-to-access vehicles like some passenger cars and pickup trucks, along with tips and tricks. Cars and trucks are much easier when you lubricate the provided access line and the provided guide tube. We have found some vehicles with screens in them. It is always quite random. Usually you get caught on a metal edge. With careful manipulation of the outer guide tube, this can be overcome. It is tricky, but achievable. One suggestion before buying our product is to buy a ¼ inch refrigerator water supply line and try that in your vehicle. It typical takes about 6’ of line. If you can get that line into your vehicle and reach gas, the GasTapper™ will work for you.

Yes, with the 12V R-Max as it has the highest lift capability at 20 feet. The R-Max is best in this situation.

The 12V Standard lifts 6 feet, the 12V Gas Guzzler and the AquaTap both lift 10 feet, and lastly the 12V R-Max can lift 20 feet.

Generally, no. We have heard of this happening when a customer was moving hot transmission fluid. The fluid warmed the hose on our 12V R-Max model until it became soft enough to collapse on itself, so it is possible. It reverses itself once the hose cools.

Yes, with the caveat that you first try to access your gas with a ¼” plastic water supply line typically used for refrigerator ice makers. Boats and watercraft often have very custom fuel routes so you may want to test first.

Yes. We have added a chart to our Store.

None other than your own concern about mixing fuels in your vehicle. Generally speaking, fuels will mix, and the residue is not enough to have any effect on your vehicle.

The biggest reason this occurs is that the user is using an AC to DC converter. The 12V Standard has a circuit board inside and it requires a very clean conversion. You cannot use things like a 110V car battery charger to run the 12V Standard. It will sound like it is working but it will not pump. If you convert AC to DC, you need a high-quality converter such as the type that we sell on our website. Our converter also comes with a female receptacle reducing spark risk.
Another possibility is that you have not actually reached fuel on the input side. Test your input by putting it into a gas can where you can confirm you are in fuel.

It is always best to flush either model with kerosene, diesel, or low odor mineral spirits. All of these act as a preservative and prevent the harm that can be done by gasoline or racing fuel over time. Keep a can around and use it over and over again by pumping out and right back into the can.

The ¼” line is for difficult access and tight situations. Use the larger 5/16” line when you can. It reduces the workload on the pump.

If you flush the system after use, the GasTapper’s™ life is not limited. It should work for many years to come.

Use the converter we offer on our website for the 12V Standard. The 12V Standard has a circuit board inside to properly operate the diaphragm. A battery charger will not work as a converter and is also dangerous as it can be a source for sparks.

The 12V Standard can move 30 gallons per hour, the 12V R-Max moves 60 gallons per hour. the 12V Gas Guzzler moves 72 gallons per hour and lastly the AquaTap can move 90 gallons per hour.

Yes. It can get stuck on sharp edges that are found in fuel systems where metal pipes are joined by rubber couplings. It can also get stuck on butterfly type backflow prevention valves. If the 1/4" line gets stuck, do not try to get it out by pulling hard. The tube will eventually stretch and then break off. The first solution is to twist or rotate the tube slowly while gently pulling. This will create a threading like action that will allow the tube to ride the catching edge out like a screw. An alternative to this would be to use the larger 1/2" 4 foot guide tube to slide down over the 1/4" line down to the obstruction. Gently use the larger tube to push open the butterfly valve or release the smaller tube from the caught edge.

We recommend using kerosene or mineral spirits to flush out the 12V units because it has a rapid evaporation rate compared to flushing with with diesel. All three choices are great options, they will leave your unit ready for your next use!

- This is highly dependent on whether the battery pack is rated for use with a 12V product. There are certain cases in which this will not work. We do offer options on our website for alternative power sources that are specific to our units.
- The problem with jumper packs is the alligator clips. You should not try to attach the alligator clips to our accessory plug. Any effort to connect alligator clips to our plug or to a battery in a car poses the risk of a spark or reverse polarity. Another problem that may also occur is related to power, when a customer attempts to use a battery charger or similar that plugs into a 110v wall socket. These do not work with our Standard unit because the conversion from 110V AC to 12V DC is not done "cleanly." Our Standard pump has a circuit board in it like a computer and it does not work well or at all with this "dirty" electricity.

The fuse housed in the power cord has a 3 amp rating and 250 volts. If your fuse blows, it can be replaced with another 3 amp/250v fuse that is 1/4" diameter by 1 and 1/4" long. Based on recent fuse accuracy issues, we now use 3 amp fuses in all of our products for extra safety.

Not all of our units can be used with water. We now offer two units that will work well with water; The FlowJoe AquaTap and the Gas Guzzler.

Yes, you can store it in your garage once it has been properly flushed out. However, we do not recommend storing the unit long-term in the trunk. If your unit is placed inside a trunk it should only be during transport, temporarily.

The 12V RMax and Standard are not designed to be used with water. The AquaTap is not designed to be used with fuel. The Gas Guzzler does have the ability to transfer both fuel and water with proper maintenance. Please check out our comparison chart for further information.

Yes it can be used for potable water. Please flush with at least 10 gallons of clean water before using for potable water.

- If used with diesel, then we recommend a mild detergent (dish soap) rinse followed by a fresh water rinse. If the unit sits for a while, we recommend that it be rinsed again in case of bacteria or mold growth due to sitting. Do not use for potable water if used for diesel.
- If AquaTap is to be used for potable water, we suggest doing a mild ammonia dilution rinse if it sits for more than a month. You could also follow the same cleaning techniques used for reusable water bottles. You can also use a sanitizer called Star San Sanitizer which can be found on Amazon. This sanitizer is used for home brewing applications.
